A Willingness to Learn Changes Everything

Brentwood’s Hailey Hendry was a soccer player through her sophomore year of high school.

Coach Avery saw potential in her as a runner and encouraged her to commit fully to the sport. More importantly, Hailey was willing to learn—willing to adjust, be patient, and trust the process.

Her progress took off from there.

Just two years later, Hailey’s high school resume included seven AAA State titles, five AAA State Runner-Up finishes, and personal bests of 2:15 in the 800, 4:51 in the 1600, and 10:34 in the 3200.

This kind of growth doesn’t happen overnight. It happens when an athlete stays consistent, remains open to learning, and commits fully—especially when conditions aren’t perfect.
